THE DETAILS
How to prepare your pet for boarding
Be sure your pet knows basic commands and is well socialized around other people and pets; if your pet has an aggression problem or is otherwise unruly, she may not be a good candidate for boarding. Before taking your animal to the kennel, make sure she is current on vaccinations.
It's also a good idea to accustom your pet to longer kennel stays by first boarding her during a short trip, such as a weekend excursion. This allows you to work out any problems before boarding your pet for an extended period.
Before you head for the kennel, double-check that you have your pet's medications and special food (if any), your veterinarian's phone number, and contact information for you and a local backup.
When you arrive with your pet at the boarding facility, remind the staff about any medical or behavior problems your pet has, such as a history of epilepsy or fear of thunder. After the check-in process, hand your pet to a staff member, say good-bye, and leave. Avoid long, emotional partings, which may upset your pet.
Finally, have a good trip, knowing that your pet is in good hands and will be happy to see you when you return.
POLICIES FOR KENNELING
All owners must complete the Boarding Release form and show proof of vaccination. It is recommended that owners provide dirty socks or t-shirts along with the pups favorite toy and food. Boarding fees are charged by the day. Drop off/check in is after 12 PM and pick up is prior to 11 AM. Clients who drop off early or pick up late (without prior agreement) will be assessed a convenience fee of $35.
Weekends, holidays and days the shop is closed pick up drop off times are 9-10 am and 2-3 pm. Arrangements can be made with Opal Ridge staff to drop off early or pick up late on a case by case basis. A courtesy call prior to arrival is appreciated, in an effort to keep all other boarding animals safe and calm.
A holding fee of ½ of the boarding total is required two (2) weeks prior to your pets stay. This fee is non-refundable. We are a small kennel and when we agree to keep your pet, we often turn away other clients to avoid over crowding and unsafe situations.
