At Opal Ridge, we take great pride in the superior care of our dams before, during, and after pregnancy. We make sure they are comfortable and provide the utmost care. The puppies are birthed onsite and given excellent care by Opal Ridge staff members 24 hours a day. We also have access to an on-call veterinarian in the event of an emergency and for general puppy care.
Puppies stay with us for a minimum of 12 weeks during which they are exposed to multiple stimuli and different people. We take the time to introduce them to different sounds, tactile situations, play styles, temperatures, weather conditions and human interaction levels to provide the most loving, attentive, well-balanced, and most importantly, happy and healthy puppies. During this time period, we start them on their way to being litter box and crate trained. We do our best to be sure you have an easier time acclimating your new puppy into your home and family. Many of our current pet families report back to us that the puppies are not often frightened of the different sounds and visitors in their new homes due to this process.
At Opal Ridge, it is important that the puppy be a good fit for your family as well. We ask a lot of questions and require personal visits before you take your puppy home in order to find the right puppy to fit into your family dynamics. Since we spend numerous hours daily with these babies, we learn their different personalities and energy levels. As we get to know you, we can evaluate which puppies match the type of lifestyle and energy level that will fit best with yours. This ensures that you will have a smoother transition in the addition of your newest family member.
We want you to ask questions too. Feel free to call, email, or come visit our facilities and meet the puppies. We encourage you to come play with the puppy you are interested in as often as you can. We do have play dates by appointment only due to the fact that we also offer mid-woofing services where we have other mothers and puppies in our home for pregnancy and after birth care of the mother and puppies.
This attention and care leads to happy pet parents and happy pets in their new homes.

THE DETAILS
We carefully follow, and often exceed, the recommendations set forth by OFA-CHIC Health Testing Requirements for both our Miniature Schnauzers and our Black Russian Terriers.
We do not provide breeding stock at Opal Ridge. We have a long line of champions at Opal Ridge. We currently have several in our home and we would love for you to meet our family!
Opal Ridge puppy families are always writing in to tell us how much love their puppies provide. We keep in touch with as many as we can so we can see how the babies grow and adapt to their new homes. We often get pictures of the happy families and are working to be able to share some of these with you.
